IBCLC Lactation Consulting in Central Florida

What to Expect During Your Visit

Let me take you behind the scenes and show you what a typical visit looks like. Every visit is different because every situation is different, but here's the flow I usually follow:

I'll listen first

Your story, your challenges, your goals — what's working and what isn't. I want to understand where you are before we do anything else.

Then we'll work together:

  • Weigh baby before and after feeding
  • Watch a complete feeding
  • Check latch and positioning
  • Assess baby's mouth and tongue
  • Assess your breasts for pain, supply concerns, or anatomy questions
  • Measure for correct flange size if pumping
  • Discuss pumping guidance and equipment
  • Provide bottle and pacifier information if needed
  • Troubleshoot feeding schedules or pumping routines
  • Plan for returning to work
  • Address supply management
"I'll give you information so you understand how breastfeeding works — because when you're informed, you can make empowered choices."

At the end of your visit:

  • Clear plan and recommendations discussed together
  • My contact info provided for questions between visits
  • Follow-up visit scheduled if needed

My approach comes from 15 years as a midwife and NICU nurse. I give you practical, evidence-based support that fits your real life — not a one-size-fits-all solution. Serving Cooper City and surrounding areas.

Lactation Support — How Many Visits Are Necessary?

Every breastfeeding journey is unique, and so is the support you'll need. Here are common times families reach out:

  • 1–2 visits during pregnancy (preparation, questions, setting expectations)
  • 2–3 visits in the early weeks (most critical time for establishing supply and latch)
  • 1 visit before returning to work (pumping planning, schedule adjustments)
  • 1 visit before starting solid foods (navigating the transition)
  • Also: tongue tie concerns, slow weight gain, clogged ducts or mastitis, nipple pain, breast-to-bottle transitions
